Testing three advertising angles for one product without changing everything

When an advertisement disappoints, changing video, price, audience and page together is tempting. If performance improves afterward, you cannot tell which change mattered. Testing three angles for one product asks a clearer question: which explanation of its value attracts relevant interest and workable orders? An angle is not merely different music or a title color. It is a reason for caring about the product while preserving its real characteristics and offer limitations.

Start with different customer needs

Choose a product you understand and write three genuine customer questions. For a fictional kitchen organizer: does it fit a small space, make items accessible, and require complicated assembly? These suggest space, access and installation angles. They do not justify untested promises about doubling every kitchen’s capacity or supporting any weight.

If every version answers the same question, you are mainly testing execution variations. That can still be useful, but name the experiment accurately. Changing music does not establish that a different customer need has been discovered.

Prepare a record for each version

VersionMain ideaFilmed evidence
ASuitability for a particular spaceActual measurements and placement
BAccess to stored itemsPutting items away and retrieving them
CAssembly and package contentsUnboxing and explaining the pieces

Write an opening, demonstration and single next action for each. Keep product, quantity, price and delivery unchanged, using the same destination when the message is your test variable. Different video lengths are possible, but record them because time and presentation can also affect outcomes.

Keep original files and usage permissions. A customer video or music track is not available for commercial use merely because it circulates online. A natural presentation also does not authorize attributing an experience to someone who never described it.

Make the comparison understandable

Put it into practice

Try these steps in your own store.

Start on Matjri and work through the steps at your own pace.

Get started
  1. Document the question and outcome you intend to compare.
  2. Confirm all three versions describe the same offer without contradictory promises.
  3. Give the angles distinct names in your internal record.
  4. Check actual spending and impression allocation rather than assuming equal distribution.
  5. Follow orders through the confirmation and delivery stages needed for your decision.

If campaign parameters are used, keep naming consistent and customer details out of links. This may remain a practical commercial trial rather than a fully randomized controlled experiment. State that limitation instead of calling a version a statistically proven winner simply because it leads a small table.

A fictional 180 TND experiment

For illustration, assume each angle spends 60 TND. A produces two final deliveries, B three and C four. Advertising cost per delivery is 30 TND,20 TND and 15 TND respectively. If contribution before advertising is 18 TND per delivered order, C appears better able to cover advertising in this sample. That does not establish it will repeat the result with a larger audience.

Review questions and refusals too. One angle might generate many submissions while creating a false expectation about size; another may attract fewer but clearer orders. Record complaints and cancellation reasons. With small samples, chance and delivery timing matter: a single additional delivery can change the ranking considerably.

Do not silently change the destination

If price, first image or shipping changes during the comparison, record the date and separate results describing different offers. Organize product information and offers in Matjri so customers find what the advertisement promised. If you also use a page experiment, separate its question from the creative test instead of combining two changes with unknown individual effects.

Misleading information should nevertheless be corrected when discovered. Treat the correction as a new test stage. Preserving an experiment spreadsheet does not justify leaving an inaccurate description in place at customers’ expense.

Build a learning record

Keep the angle, what was shown, dates, expenditure and final order outcomes. Add a provisional interpretation and what remains unknown. Then decide whether to improve execution of a useful idea, test another question or reconsider the product. Do not repeat a creation indefinitely because an earlier sample worked, or increase commitment before checking stock and order-handling capacity.

Begin with three sentences answering three needs and film simple evidence for each. If your product page is still unstructured, prepare the offer in Matjri so each message connects to clear purchase information. Creative work should explain the choice, not promise a guaranteed commercial outcome.

Frequently asked questions

Does changing only music create another angle?

It is usually an execution variation. You can test it, but do not describe three different customer needs when the underlying reason to buy remains unchanged.

Should the highest CTR automatically win?

CTR helps describe clicking response under its selected definition. It cannot establish order quality or delivery success alone. Combine it with commercial outcomes and examine whether the promise attracted unsuitable curiosity.

Must spending always be divided equally?

That depends on the experiment plan and available tools. What matters is reviewing actual distribution and stating comparison limits. Do not assume equality that did not occur, and document allocation changes rather than making them silently.
